Best Careers 2007
This is not a big surprise to me, but at the same time - it’s ironic. Many library buildings are closing or are losing funding but then others have major construction plans. Maybe it’s just a shift in library services is what is happening. Whatever the case, Librarian made it on the US News and World Report Best Careers for 2007. The median pay is: $49,708. Hmmm, where are you in that median?
Heading back from a fun but busy week. I did some Rural Library Sustainability Institutes in Baton Rouge and Alexandria and then a follow-up on a Web 2.0: Train the Trainer session today in Richmond, Virginia. I’m here at RIC now, using the fab free wi-fi. I really think ATL is failing by not offering free wi-fi considering the delays they experience regularly. Oh well. Classes went well this week - and I even taught in a 100+ year old house near the Rapides Parish Library, the Huie-Dellomon House. Apparently a former resident, Myrtle, is a ghost in the house but I didn’t see her.
The drive up to Alexandria from Baton Rouge using 190 and other side roads is beautiful. There are areas of swamp that have purple hyacinth on the water. Made for a peaceful drive…then I got lost in Alexandria and coulnd’t find my hotel, so my peace was lost temporarily.
Looking forward to going home, yesterday was Andrew and I’s one year anniversary of togetherness so I can’t wait to see him!
